Biographical Notes
A native of Montréal, violinist MARIE-CAROLINE BOURQUE MOELLMAN holds a Master of Music degree (2001) and a Professional Studies Diploma (2002) from the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with David Cerone and David Updegraff. Previously, she completed her Bachelor of Music summa cum laude at the University of Ottawa in 1998, studying with Claude Richard and Walter Prystawski. She is also a 1999 graduate of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. Further studies were at the Banff Center for the Arts, the Encore School for Strings, the Sarasota Music Festival, the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, the Domaine Forget Academy and the National Arts Center Young Artists Program directed by Pinchas Zukerman. Ms. Bourque was a winner of the National Arts Center Bursaries Competition in 1998 and 1999. She was a laureate of the 1997 Czech and Slovak Music Competition in Montréal, and a finalist in the Canadian Music Competition for several years. Ms. Bourque has presented solo and chamber music recitals in the United States and Canada, and has been featured on CBC Radio and Radio-Canada. She has performed as a soloist with the National Arts Center Orchestra, the University of Ottawa Orchestra, the Ottawa Symphony Strings and Thirteen Strings. Ms. Bourque was teaching assistant to David Updegraff at The Cleveland Institute of Music from 2001 to 2003. She has been a member of the Canton Symphony Orchestra since 2002.
