International Music Festival

The 2007 Festival will be held at a Cleveland-area location.
The student institute will be held July 22-28.
The teacher trainer institute will be held July 21-29.

Founded in 1985 by Dr. Ray Landers, the Festival is a family-oriented music, theatre, arts and sports camp for all ages and interests. Following the belief of Shinichi Suzuki that “all children can be educated” and the belief of numerous educators that “music is a necessary luxury for man,” the Festival strives to be an international leader in music and other arts education. It offers quality programs that are intended to help each participant become more compassionate, intelligent, caring and cooperative. Its continual emphasis is to provide an environment that will remind everyone of the important role of the arts in a healthy society.

Cleveland Institute of Music Summer Chamber Music

CIM Summer Chamber Music is a 10-day experience for pianists and string players interested in exploring music outside of their solo venues. The rich and varied works available in the chamber music repertoire provide endless opportunities to explore and expand one’s musical horizons. Students will have the chance to meet and work with other young musicians of similar abilities and musical interests. The course will combine coachings, supervised rehearsals, ear training, chamber music literature classes, rehearsal techniques, movement classes, public master classes and a final performance. Auditions are open to all students who study privately, ages 12–18, although exceptions may be made. Auditions will be scheduled at 10-minute intervals and heard by faculty only. Applicants must submit a completed application form and audition fee before an audition will be scheduled. Applicants will be notified of audition date/time one week prior to the audition. Students will be asked to play two pieces of contrasting styles and sight-read. String students should prepare a 3-octave scale and will audition without accompaniment.

Credo

Credo is an intensive chamber music program for exceptional string students. Students receive extensive daily coaching and mentoring with world-class faculty.

Credo Opus 1

Opus 1 is the perfect entry point to the Credo experience. Slightly shorter, and designed for students age 12-16, the program allows interaction with the world-class Credo faculty while adding level-appropriate technique classes.
